Orkney is truly a birdwatchers' paradise with thousands making the pilgrimage every year. 8000 hectares of nature reserve land are managed by the RSPB and vast numbers of birds nest here. While May to Mid July is the best time to see most common species including the famous and elusive Puffin. Late Spring and the turn of autumn bring migratory visitors and unusual sightings are commonplace!
